Unit Weekly News for 23 March - 6 April 2026

Good afternoon, Parents & Guardians,

We had an outstanding turn out and great weather for our annual Bataan Death March (picture attached).  We joined James Island HS AFJROTC and Lucy Bekham HS CGJROTC to honor and remember the 75,000+ Filipino and American service members who, in April 1942 during WWII, endured the 65 mile forced march from Mariveles to San Fernando, Philippines – many paying the ultimate price along the journey.  We appreciate the support of our parents to make this possible and for our booster officers who chaperoned the event.  We hope our cadets are recovering from their 13-15 mile trek yesterday.

I’m excited to share great news – please join me in congratulating cadet Paige Edwards (junior).  She is our first cadet since before Covid, to be selected for a USAF 8-week summer Flight Academy scholarship!  This scholarship provides the academic and flight training necessary to earn college credit and a private pilot certificate -- including travel, room and board at a partner university with no obligation to serve in the military.   Only 94 cadets were selected out of 800+ competing units.  She is truly deserving and we are extremely proud of her.

Due to the half day on Friday, our uniform and in-flight fitness schedules shifted 1 day for this week.  We hope you and your families have a safe and enjoyable spring break starting in a week.  The next unit weekly news will be sent out on April 5^th.
